The Superb Lifestyle that is Italy...

Italian Lifestyle - one of the pleasures in life

Italians have a passion for eating and for talking and are a very warm nation of people who love to enjoy life to the full. Due to the fantastic climate the Italian Lifestyle can relax all year round which allows them to mix with familiy and friendss both indoors and especially outdoors. Eating is focal to the family group system and whether at home at the kitchen table or relaxing outdoors by the sea in their favourite restaurant they can enjoy the traditions of the Italian cuisine which is world renowned.

Due to the open and friendly social system Italians of all ages engaged in chating about a variety of topics ranging from family, work, politics, gossip, food, wine and sports and especially Italian soccer which sends the heart racing for the average Italian male..

The piazza or square is the central meeting point eveywhere from the largest cities to the most rural of villages and supplies a focus for cultural events such as festivals, celebrations such as weddings and anniversaries and well as political events. The only times during the day that the piazzas and streets around Italy may be deserted are around 12.30-14.00 and 19.30-21.30. These are the times when Italians are home enjoying a meal.

To the real Italian, lunch is a 1 to 2 hour affair with traditionally a two to three course meal, which explains why most things halt for two hours during the day. Stores shut down, banks close, and the streets are empty. At around 2 o’clock people start to emerge from their houses and populate the streets again until around 19.30 when it is time for dinner. After dinner, the streets come to life again as Italians stroll around the piazza to work off their meal or head off for their evening engagements.

Obtaining a Residency in Italy

Non-EU citizens who wish to stay in Italy for more than 90 days must apply for a residence
permit ('permesso di soggiorno'), issued by the District Headquarters of the Police of State ('Questura'). Staying in Italy without such authorization may result in the immediate deportation from the Italian territory.

The residency permit issued by Italy also allows the non-EU citizen to stay in all the other EU countries (with the exception of United Kingdom) for a maximum period of 90 days without any need of visa issued by such countries.

Yearly, the Italian government sets out immigration quotas divided per country of origin and type of residency permit. An average of 150.000-200.000 residency permits are issued every year (last year over 700.000 applications were made).

In order to obtain the residency permit, the non-EU citizen must fulfil two crucial conditions:
1) he/she must have a job in Italy granting him/her and any family (should they wish to have
his/her family in Italy as well) adequate economical resources;

2) he/she must have the availability of a adequate lodging on the Italian territory.
In light of the above, non-EU citizens owning properties in Italy cannot apply for a residency
permit adducing this sole reason.

A specific type of residency permit (choice of residency permit: 'permesso di soggior-no
per residenza elettiva') may be issued should the non-EU citizen be able to prove
the availability of ample economical resources coming from properties rentals, pensions,
etc.

In such case the condition of having a job in Italy is not required.

Vacation rentals in Italy are often offered by the owners of the properties or agents may also offer property for sale or rent. If you are considering buying real estate in Italy or anywhere else for that matter, the most widely used method of borrowing the funds to make the purchase is a mortgage. International Property Directory has agreements in place to offer the services of a well known mortgage company who will help at the required stages of a mortgage application. International Property Directory can also help you obtain great currency exchange rates with it's partner MoneyCorp which can save consideralble sums of money during the purchasing process.

Increasing numbers of investors using International Property Directory are buying real estate globally with a view to using them as a vacation rental or for capital appreciation. Returns on this investment can be very good and the prices in some emerging markets are very attractive. A mortgage can be used to fund the purchase of a house, home, apartment or villa in many cases.

If you are looking into purchasing or renting or trying to find a property for sale in Italy you may be limited to the type of alterations you can make to the property. You will benefit from living in the environment of your choice plus, in many cases, your improvements will add to the value or saleability of your home - but always ask the local authorities, developers or agents on the ground who you found through using International Property Directory's services. If you are looking to rent out a property in Ireland or anywhere in the world - it is wise to find out the possible rent that can be achieved or if there are any comparables available. Rental yields will vary according to location, market conditions and the property conditions itself.
