Many of the major airlines offer both direct and connecting flights to this airport such as Continental, Delta, American and United. The domestic airport in Tamarindo( TNO) is just a short 25 minute drive away has a paved landing strip amidst picturesque fields for commuter and private planes.
Air: From Costa Rica’s main airport in the capital city of San Jose (SJO) you can take a 45 minute flight via SANSA (www.flysansa.com) or Nature Air (www.natureair.com) to either Liberia or Tamarindo’s domestic airport. There are also several chartered planes departing daily from San Jose providing travel to nearby Tamarindo
By car rental: Both Liberia and San Jose airports offer car and SUV rentals from all the major car rental companies such as Budget and Hertz. It is recommended to rent an SUV if you plan on doing a lot of driving and also if you plan on driving in from San Jose. The drive from San Jose is approximately 3 ½ hours along the highway and over the new Taiwanese bridge thru Puntarenas.
