What are groups and associations for International Property Professionals, how does it work and is it of value to professionals in the property field.

There are numerous bodies, associations and groups that provide some type of representation for, and to the property industry, and many have some value, most do not.

Often buyers and investors will see new support services spring up in the web advertising framework with some kind of new assurances, or angles on the profession of real estate, and usually there is a fee to be a member and use the logo or brand of that group or association. Quite often there is no actual value in the individual or company paying for the fee, as the regulation and governance that these groups provide is worthless.

Some though do have a degree of professionalism and will go to great lengths to be the voice of the property industry. Anyone considering joining such a group or association should be prepared to look very hard at what value is being offered. If it's just having another logo on a property website to create some kind of false confidence in the products or services being offered this can backfire and cause harm.
